Environmental Engineering Institute
  • Environmental Engineering Institute (EEI) used to be called Environmental Protection Research Institute which was directly under the leadership of China National Non-Ferrous Metals Corporation. It was set up in BRGIMM in 1984. After institutional reform in the past few years, EEI is now under direct leadership of BRGIMM. It engages in many fields and activities such as fundamental research of environmental science, project design, EIS, waste treatment, resource recycling, environmental analysis and the development of environmental equipment. EEI is a comprehensive institute integrating research, design, marketing and product development, it is also the centre for environmental science, analysis, information, the academic and technological transfer in non-ferrous metals industry.
EEI establishes the following department: Fundamental Research Department, Water Treatment Department, Fume Treatment Department, Solid Waste Treatment Department, Land Rehabilitation Department, EIS Department, Environmental Lab .
EEI has actively been involved in international cooperation with Australia, Japan, Canada and Russia. And it introduced and made further development on advanced polymer materials for water treatment. It also possesses a complete set of pilot system for effluent treatment provided by Japan.
With 20 years development, EEI has been fully empowered with strong capacity on environmental project in many fields, including monitoring, project design and implementation, consultation, product development and manufacturing.

C A R I M
  • China-Australia Research Institute for Mine Waste Management ( CARIM )under BGRIMM, established through the cooperation of China and Australia, is a research and consulting institute engaged in mine waste management.
The CARIM team has sound experience in mine waste management and environmental restoration1. Since the 1980’s, it has carried large-scale mine environment research and engineering studied, and gained extensive experience in this field. Through the four years technical cooperation with Australian specialists and various training, CARIM has acquired advanced mine environment protection concepts, technologies and design methods. It has completed research on 15 projects in tailing Dam , including dam stability investigations, preventing pollution from seepage water, dust control, rehabilitation design, agricultural planting, and food chain pollution monitoring, CNNC Mine Waste Management Policy, community development and public heath, etc.
National Standard laboratories specialized in mine waste management are established in CARIM, including environmental chemistry laboratory, modern greenhouse and computer room. All the equipment and instruments were purchased from overseas quality suppliers and are the latest technology. Advanced mobile facilities for field test and investigations are available to carry out site investigations and to monitor the environment. Computer software packages for site design and modeling are available, such as software for geotechnology, hydrotechnology, agricultural planting and rehabilitation design.
